Compete

The CTF is the heart of NESTCON

The competition segment is one of the festival's flagship attractions, and it is built so a first-year student and a practising pentester both have somewhere to compete. Choose a category based on where you are now, not where you'd like to be.

  • Student category

    University students & cyber clubs

For university students and cyber club members. Scoped for people building their first CTF experience.

Road to NESTCON

The festival starts months before November

A multi-month pre-event campaign designed to build awareness, identify talent, grow participation, and create momentum toward the main event.
3 months of activations before 26–28 November 2026

Cybersecurity awareness is most effective when delivered consistently. The Road to NESTCON model creates a sustained build-up that keeps the community engaged over several months instead of limiting attention to one event day.

Together, Road to NESTCON and the festival create both a pipeline and a destination: the road builds attention and participation, while the festival serves as the culminating national gathering point for the cybersecurity community.

What runs on the road

Six ways to take part before the festival

  • Mini CTFs

  • Campus and community activations

  • Cyber games

  • Talks

  • Online challenges

  • Targeted awareness sessions

Activation calendar

Dates, as they are confirmed

Calendar in planning

The activation calendar is being built

Road to NESTCON runs for 3 months ahead of the festival. Individual mini CTFs, campus activations and online challenges are published here as each date is locked in, and emailed to everyone on the list first.

One festival, one programme

Workshops, panels and demonstrations run alongside the main CTF, the exhibition floor and the networking programme, and the road into all of it starts months earlier.
